Welcome to my podcast!

I'm not a baby at podcasting anymore; more like a toddler falling off the edge of the porch. Stick a bandage on it and keep going.

Topics will usually be about writing, but I might go off on life at any moment. Listeners are welcome to suggest a topic. Buckle up and enjoy the show.

If you happen to like one of my episodes, vote on Podcast Alley or do a review on iTunes. If you hate it, well, you can keep that to yourself.

August 18, 2008

Episode #24 Is it Passive? [mp3 format / 19.7MB / 21:35min]

Passive voice alone is hard enough to get rid of in a manuscript, but what if we don't even recognize the culprit to begin with?

July 4, 2008

Episode #23 Here and Gone [mp3 format / 12.7MB / 13:52min]

There are new publishers out there hungry for new writers, but proceed with caution. They disappear faster than they arrive. I also have a brief mini-rant on POV issues in a book I'm reading.

February 22, 2008

Episode #17 Head-Hopping [mp3 format / 22.8MB / 24:54min]

Don't change horses in mid-stream. POV switching, or what's fondly known as head-hopping, is frowned on for a reason. Extras include the tax rebate, a potential civil war, the primaries, Skype, my vacation and not one, but two words for your knowledge tidbit.

February 8, 2008

Episode #16 Mixing It Up [mp3 format / 19.9MB / 21:49min]

What happens when an author mixes 1st person with 3rd? Is it good or bad, innovative or annoying? I forgot to turn off the cool pad while recording, so that's what that weird little noise is.

January 25, 2008

Episode #15 No Web Antiques [mp3 format / 23.9MB / 26:10min]

The Web is no place for antique code and pages. I also mention the cold, my dog, a couple of podcasts and authors, a blog I found, a site dedicated to science in fiction, the fed rate, my work schedule, being published and what to do with a Big Boy tomato.

January 11, 2008

Episode #14 Here Be Dragons [mp3 format / 25.3MB / 27:42min]

Early sailors had many perils to overcome, real and imagined. So do writers.

January 1, 2008

September 21, 2007

Episode #5 To Improve or Not Through Critique [mp3 format / 29.3MB / 32:02min]

Payday to payday includes an excerpt from a writing craft book. Plugs go to an author interview on Midnight Quills and two podcasts. Knowledge is a single word and the main topic is on critiques. There's also an unplanned moment on hair…sort of.

September 7, 2007

Episode #4 Sideroads and Diversions [mp3 format / 16.2MB / 17:44min]

First, I ramble about podshows and how they remind me of websites. I share a portion of an article I read. I emailed the author, John Dufresne, to tell him I enjoyed the article and he emailed back super fast. How nice is that? I asked how to pronounce his name since I buthered it and it's 'Do-frane.' Actually, my first attempt wasn't too bad. I also do a really bad French accent. Finally, I come to the actual topic, but the most you'll get from that is some really cool places to visit, which are listed below.

August 24, 2007

Episode #1 was just a test run using one of my poems. It's been removed from the podcast, but if you're desperate to hear it, let me know.
